Nicolas Horvath is een gedurfde Franse pianist met een passie voor minimalistische, klassieke en experimentele muziek, die bekendstaat om zijn marathonoptredens en samenwerkingen met beroemde artiesten als Philip Glass en Terry Riley.

Als gamer pleit hij er al lang voor dat videogamemuziek vaker wordt bestudeerd en uitgevoerd in klassieke concertzalen. Via dit project brengt hij zijn muzikale ervaring naar een breder publiek en overbrugt hij zo de kloof tussen klassieke muziek en videogamesoundtracks. Naast zijn rol als vertolker van deze bewerkingen, werkte Horvath ook mee aan de creatie ervan, samen met de in Montréal gevestigde arrangeur Julie Lamontagne en Ubisoft Music Supervisor Simon Landry, en was hij betrokken bij de keuze van de piano waarop hij zou spelen.

Een samenwerking tussen Ubisoft, Harmonia mundi en de Philharmonie de Paris

Het album Assassin’s Creed: The Piano Collection, gedistribueerd door Harmonia mundi, is opgenomen op een historische piano die vroeger toebehoorde aan Nadia Boulanger en nu deel uitmaakt van de collectie van het Musée de la musique in Parijs. Het wordt de eerste soundtrack van een videogame die wordt opgenomen in de prestigieuze Stradivari-collectie, een samenwerking met het Musée de la musique van de Philharmonie, waarin uitzonderlijke instrumenten worden tentoongesteld die bespeeld worden door getalenteerde artiesten.

Er is ook een officiële videoclip uitgebracht voor ‘Ezio’s Family’, het iconische thema uit de Assassin’s Creed-serie uit Assassin’s Creed 2, waarin Nicolas te zien is terwijl hij speelt op de Steinway & Sons-vleugel uit 1928, model A, in het amfitheater van de Philharmonie de Paris.

Een concert ter gelegenheid van de tentoonstelling Video Games & Music in de Philharmonie de Paris

De nummers van het album worden op 23 juni live uitgevoerd door Nicolas Horvath tijdens een concert in de Philharmonie de Paris, in het kader van de tentoonstelling Video Games & Music die van 2 april tot 1 november 2026 in de Philharmonie de Paris te zien is.

Standaard- en Deluxe-vinyl zijn beschikbaar voor pre-order

De muziek van Assassin’s Creed: The Piano Collection zal beschikbaar zijn op standaard-LP en Deluxe 2LP-vinyl. Beide formaten zijn nu beschikbaar voor pre-order, met verzending gepland voor medio 2026.
